Everything You Need to Know About LP Autogas Conversion

Most Popular Questions

Autogas is an Alternative Vehicle Fuel that substantially Reduces Harmful Emissions, Costs Less than Gasoline and is almost entirely domestically produced.

There are more than 18 Million vehicles around the world running on gas, as an alternative. Unlike Gasoline, Diesel, Methanol and Ethanol, Autogas is Nontoxic, Non-poisonous and Insoluble in water.

Automotive LPG / CNG / LNG (Autogas) is specifically designed for use in a vehicle – with the Specification Governed by the requirements of The National Fuel Quality Standards Act 2000 and The Autogas Determination 2003.

Yes — LP Autogas is extremely safe. Modern LPG systems are equipped with advanced safety features and undergo rigorous testing. Our technicians install all systems to meet or exceed national safety standards.

The Autogas LPG system has a number of important safety features including:
A welded steel pressure cylinder which is stress-tested to many times its normal operating pressure prior to being installed;

Two electronically controlled shut-off solenoids (on Autogas LPG tank and on reducer under bonnet) which stop the flow of LPG Autogas to the engine if the engine stops for any reason;

Pressure relief valves for the tank and the system, to prevent any pressure build up that may damage the system, or be hazardous;

Double back-check valves to ensure Autogas tight filling;

Sealed compartments and venting around valves and pipe-work to ensure no LPG enters the interior of the vehicle;

Approved components to ensure long service life.

The support of trained personnel who comply with rigorous European Standards for manufacture and installation of the system.

Everything about the vehicle remains the same but a separate Autogas fuel system is added, with its own tank, piping, ECU and injectors.

While LPG is a much cleaner fuel, there is less wear and tear on the engine and the engine`s life will be prolonged.

LPG is also 100% lead-free, produces fewer emissions and causes less oil-contamination.

Combustion is cleaner so your engine will be quieter and smoother, contributes to a more eco friendly environment.

Modern systems are now able to completely interact with most makes of petrol vehicles and you will not know whether you are running on petrol or gas without looking at the switch

Not at all. In fact, LP Autogas burns cleaner than petrol, which can result in less carbon build-up and longer engine life. With proper installation and maintenance, your engine can actually benefit from the cleaner combustion.

Drivers can save up to 40–50% on fuel costs compared to petrol. The exact savings depend on your driving habits, fuel prices, and the type of vehicle you drive. Most customers see a return on their investment within 6-12 months.

All modern gas injection systems are Bi fuel so when the car runs out of LPG it will automatically switch to petrol. This is quite normal, hardly noticeable and causes no damage to your engine. The car will cold start on petrol and then quickly switch over when the engine is warm.

Yes, you can change back from LPG to petrol simply at the press of a button

No. It is highly recommended to only use trained and approved Autogas Installers and kits that carry EU and SABS standards of approval and approved and used by OEM`s. Our installers get extensive training from our brand manufactures, plus also on how to do it safely, and have to comply to LP Gas regulations as per LPGSA. Each and every LP Gas installations has to be checked, tested, calibrated and HAVE to be signed off and get a C.O.C Certificate

Most petrol vehicles can be converted, especially those with multi-point fuel injection systems. To be sure, we recommend contacting us for a free consultation — we’ll assess your vehicle and provide the best advice.

Not significantly. In many cases, drivers notice smoother running and quieter operation. Power output remains similar, and because LPG is a high-octane fuel, it often improves engine efficiency.

Example: If you have 10kg of LPG and its density is 0.55Kg/Litre, the calculation would be: Volume = 10kg / 0.55 kg/litre = 18.18 litres.

Yes — like any vehicle system, regular maintenance is important. We recommend a service every 15,000 km or 12 months to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Two Reasons.
Firstly, The simple chemical nature of the fuel ensures that it burns cleaner producing less pollution. LPG has the potential to make a huge difference to local air quality, particularly in urban areas.

Secondly, Low Carbon Emissions and Lower noise pollution, reducing impact on the environment

Look for the Green `LPG` sign on the back of the vehicle

LP Autogas vehicle`s use the same LP Gas as your LP gas that you use for cooking, however the specially designed Autogas tank has 2 x safety cut off valves. Trying to connect a 9kg bottle to your AutoGas Car is unsafe and illegal. The correct application and installation needs to be done safely and correctly.
